Chinese Beef and Onion Stir-Fry

1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons water
Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions:
Marinate the Beef
In a bowl, mix together 1 tablespoon soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of sugar with the sliced beef. Coat the meat well and let it sit for at least 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Prepare the Sauce
In a separate small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, water, and sugar. Set this sauce aside for later.
Sauté the Onions
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Toss in the sliced onions and stir-fry them for about 5 minutes until they soften and start to caramelize. Once done, remove from the pan and set aside.
Cook the Beef
Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the pan. Once hot, add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the beef browns. Then, add the minced garlic and ginger, continuing to stir-fry for an additional minute until fragrant.
