1. Oven: Preheat oven to 180C and prepare donut pans by spraying with non-stick spray. Donut Maker: Preheat donut maker for 5 minutes before baking donuts.
2. In a large bowl, add the cake flour, white sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix the dry ingredients together using a whisk.
3. Add the milk, melted butter, vanilla essence and egg to the dry ingredients and beat until well combined. The batter should be thick and smooth.
4. Add the batter to the donut pans or donut maker and bake for 15 minutes in the oven or 3 minutes in the donut maker. The donut should be golden brown.
5. Allow to cool before decorating.
6. For the cinnamon sugar coating: Mix ½ cup white sugar with ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon and add the cinnamon mixture to a bowl. In a second bowl, melt 50g butter. Dip the donut in the butter and then in the cinnamon sugar, then leave to dry.
