Fried Donuts recipe
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, granulated sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Mix well.
Add the yeast mixture to the milk mixture and stir to combine.
Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, and mix until a soft dough forms. You may need to use a little more or less flour to achieve the right consistency.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness. Use a donut cutter or a round cookie cutter to cut out donuts. You can also use a smaller cutter to make donut holes.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
Carefully add the donuts to the hot oil and fry until they are golden brown on both sides, turning them once. This should take about 2-3 minutes per side.
Remove the fried donuts with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
While the donuts are still warm, you can glaze them with a simple powdered sugar glaze or dip them in cinnamon sugar for a delicious coating.
