CINNAMON APPLE PIE RECIPE

:  Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease a cake pan. To make the pastry, in a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add the cold butter and mix with a fork or pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the beaten egg and cold water and mix until the mixture is smooth and workable. Add more water if necessary, a tablespoon at a time. Divide the dough into two portions, one larger than the other. Spread the larger portion of the dough over the bottom and sides of the pan, pressing down with your fingers to even out the filling. To make the apple filling, in a large bowl, mix together the apple slices, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and wheat flour until the apples are well coated. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pan mixture. To make the crumble, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon and salt in a bowl. Add the cold butter and rub together with a fork or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples in the pan. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden and crispy and the apples are tender.
