8-10 fresh okra pods (bhindi)
2 tablespoons coconut oil or olive oil (optional for added nourishment)
1 tablespoon honey (optional, for shine)
1 cup water
Instructions:
Prepare the Okra:
Wash the okra pods thoroughly and chop them into small pieces. The smaller the pieces, the more mucilage you can extract.
Boil the Okra:
In a small pot, add the chopped okra and 1 cup of water. Bring it to a boil and then simmer for 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to help release the mucilage, which will give you the thick, slimy texture necessary for the hair mask.
Strain the Mucilage:
After boiling, strain the mixture to separate the mucilage from the okra pieces. You should be left with a thick, gel-like substance.
Mix in Oils and Honey (Optional):
For added hydration and shine, mix in 2 tablespoons of coconut or olive oil and 1 tablespoon of honey. Stir well to combine.
