Most of us like to think there’s nothing we wouldn’t do to ensure the happiness and well-being of our family members. While this sentiment is usually true, as we grow older and have families of our own, it can be challenging to drop everything to help a loved one in need.
But what if a relative required you to give up your job, fly halfway around the world, and dedicate your life to their care? Chris Punsalan, a content creator and musician from the Philippines, didn’t hesitate to make this extraordinary decision.
Chris’s family lives in Nevada, but his 96-year-old grandmother resides in the Philippines. Everything was fine until his grandmother ran out of caregivers. While his family considered sending her to a care home, Chris was determined to go above and beyond. He made the selfless choice to uproot his entire life and move back to the Philippines to serve as his grandmother’s full-time caregiver.
In a heartwarming interview with ABS-CBN, Chris expressed his love and concern for his grandmother. He said, “She took care of me, and I would hate to see her go to home care, which is where most grandparents go in America. They go to home care because nobody is able to take care of them.” It’s evident that Chris’s decision came from a place of deep appreciation and gratitude for his grandmother’s love and care.
